June 2026 Unpacked
Turning into unc mode 😌
1. Monthly Note
A slower, refreshing month spent travelling through Japan.
Less about creating content, and more about slowing down, reflecting, and rediscovering the joy of simply experiencing things again.
2. In Practice
How the month actually unfolded day to day.
Turned 30 (unc mode)
Explored cities and smaller towns across Japan
Ate an unreasonable amount of good food
Rediscovered the joy of shooting for myself
No client work. No filming. No editing.
Touched grass
Got some much-needed Vitamin D
Ticked off a bucket list item
Came home feeling creatively recharged

4. What This Month Taught Me
I went off-grid for a while, travelled through Japan, and stepped away from my usual routine.
A lot of people have framed it as me resetting in my 30s or going to Japan to find myself.
But honestly, it wasn’t that.
If anything, I came back feeling more certain.
Not because I found some life-changing answer, but because I finally had the space to pay attention to what already mattered.
I realised I don’t want to live on autopilot. I don’t want to jump straight back onto the hamster wheel and spend my life chasing endless, brain-numbing churn.
I want to be more intentional with my time, my work, the people I surround myself with, and the things I choose to say yes to.
Another thing this trip reminded me of is that not every experience needs to become content.
Some moments are better when they’re simply lived.
That’s something I want to carry forward.
June wasn’t a dramatic turning point.
It was quieter than that.
Just a reminder that growth doesn’t always look like reinventing yourself.
Sometimes it just looks like becoming more aligned with the person you’ve already been growing into.
And that’s a feeling I’m excited to build on.
5. Things That Caught My Attention
Here are some things that sparked my curiosity. Check them out via the links.
Bellroy Venture Hauler Pack — This 57L backpack looks incredibly clean. It's far too big for me, but I'd still love to get my hands on one.
As2ov Epic Series — The lovely people at As2ov gave me a few bags while I was in Japan. Super interesting modular design for an outdoor pack.
Evergoods XPAC Collection — The team at As2ov kindly gifted me a few bags while I was in Japan. Really interesting modular approach to outdoor carry.
Thypoch Voyager 24-50mm F/2.8 — Looks like an excellent everyday zoom. I'm seriously considering one for my behind-the-scenes setup.
Dosnoventa GHOST MOTION - Randomly popped up on my YouTube homepage just as I was about to hit publish. Beautiful pacing, editing, sound design, transitions, and colour grading throughout.
6. Before It All Makes Sense
This month’s Debrief goes a little deeper into everything above.
If you want the full story behind the trip, what changed, and how I’m approaching the next chapter, the June Debrief is out now.
I’d love for you to give it a watch.
