What's in My Tech Backpack? | My Everyday Carry 2023
Take a deeper look into my must-have gear from my Tech Backpack for a successful YouTube filming day.
For my YouTube content creation, I carry two bags with me. A camera bag and a tech backpack. I've made a dedicated video covering my Camera Bag and recently dropped a new video sharing my tech backpack setup! However, I wanted to spice things up a bit and dive deeper into my content creation. This post is an extension of my Tech Backpack video and I'll cover the most essential gear from this setup I must bring for a successful filming day 🎥
M1 Macbook Pro: The powerhouse that runs the show. It's got my script, filming notes and shot lists. I always have my laptop while filming A Roll and B Roll. I rarely film without it nowadays. Back in the day, I used my iPad Mini for this role and it was a huge pain but the upgrade was a game-changer. Now, I can immediately throw B Roll footage into Premiere Pro and edit while I film. My entire filming and editing process is much more efficient.
iPad Mini 6: I don't use this often while filming. I like to have a backup device ready in case something happens to my laptop.
Moondrop Chu: These affordable IEMs with Harmon tuning are my go-to for monitoring audio levels during A Roll and fine-tuning sound while I'm editing. These have natural tuning and are probably one of the best Harmon-tuned IEMs around $20!
Samsung T7 SSD: The SSD has all of my secrets. My project files, backup footage and photos. Wherever my laptop goes, this SSD is within reach, allowing me to edit on the go, anywhere.
Admin Pouch (Maintenance Pouch): I sometimes run into issues with my gear whether it's tightening the tripod plate or a knife pivot. This pouch has been a lifesaver on multiple shoots and slowly become a must-have in my setup. Realistically, I can probably leave the maintenance kit in my YouTube studio but for some tools I only have one set. Until I pick up another set, this pouch will always be with me on filming days.
Alpaka Tech Case Max (Prop Pouch): This one's very self-explanatory. No props, no video. I usually like to hold onto the prop for my A Roll and I need the props for my B Roll.
Feel free to share your thoughts! I'm eager to hear if this in-depth look into my setup resonates with you. Your comments mean the world to me! 🙌
